Named for the "dragon's blood" red resin it can ooze when cut — dramatic, but relax, it's completely harmless (to you, anyway). Native to Madagascar, this spiky-headed palm-lookalike is actually not a palm at all, just a very convincing understudy. NASA even studied it for air-purifying skills, so it's basically got a government resume. Thrives on benign neglect and will happily grow several feet tall while you forget to water it.
