No spiders involved, thankfully — the name comes from the little plantlets it dangles down on long stems, looking like leggy spiders rappelling off the mother plant. Those babies are basically clones, ready to root and grow into full plants of their own, making this one of the easiest houseplants to propagate for free. It also made NASA's air-purifying shortlist, so it's quietly doing environmental work between naps. Nearly indestructible and famously tolerant of erratic watering — a great first plant for serial killers (of plants, specifically).
